📝 1. Overview
North Peak (北峰), also known as Cloud Terrace Peak (云台峰), stands at 1,614 meters (5,295 ft) and is the lowest but arguably most strategic and scenic of Mount Huashan’s five main summits. It’s called the “Gateway Peak”, as it is often the starting point for hikers ascending the infamously thrilling ridge trails to the other peaks. With its dramatic cliffs, ancient inns, and panoramic views, North Peak offers a perfect intro to Huashan’s beauty—even for those not aiming to summit them all.
🌟 2. Highlights
☁️ Cloud Sea Views – On misty days, the peak floats above a sea of clouds, living up to its poetic name
🧗♂️ Start of the “Vertical Ladder” Trail – A near-vertical stairway carved into the cliff, beginning the central route
🏯 Zhenwu Temple (真武宫) – Taoist shrine dedicated to the Northern Emperor, protector of warriors and travelers
🏠 Huashan Inn – A historic rest stop where ancient poets and monks once stayed
🌉 Cable Car Arrival Point – Most accessible peak with direct ride up from the base station
🧘 Peaceful Platforms – Ideal for meditation, photography, or simply soaking in the mountain air
